Enrolling in a Kentucky Part D Plan

Once you have found a plan that suits your needs and budget you will need to submit an application. It’s important that you choose a plan when you first become eligible for Medicare. To enroll in a plan you must be enrolled in both Parts A and B, live in the plan’s service area (your State) and have a valid enrollment period available.

Enrollment Period Include:

  • When you first become eligible for Medicare. Submit an application from 2 months from the 1st of the month in which you turn 65, the month you turn 65 and 2 months after the month you turn 65.
  • You can enroll, switch or drop a Part D Plan during the annual Open Enrollment Period which begins each year on October 15th and ends December 7th.
  • Enroll during any Special Enrollment Period that you may have available. Generally during times of a change in status or if you receive extra help in relation to your Part D coverage.

You can enroll online, over the phone, through the mail or meet with an insurance agent. Part D coverage begins the 1st of the following month from when the application was completed or January 1st if you enroll during the Annual Enrollment Period. Follow these simple steps and you should have no trouble finding a suitable Medicare Part D Plan for 2014 available in Kentucky.
